Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) celebrated 2024-2025 Fairview campus graduates this weekend in the Fred Speckeen Theatre. The graduating class of was cheered on by NWP faculty and staff, as well as many friends, family, and supporters.

The program also included a speech from the 2024-25 Fairview Valedictorian, Kailey Weisgerber. Kailey achieved academic excellence in the Veterinary Technology diploma and is honoured to represent this year's Fairview graduates.
"It's a commitment and an achievement to represent our class," she said. "We've helped each other to be our best while forming a sense of community with the other programs too."
When Kailey decided to relocate from Edmonton to complete NWP's two-year Veterinary Technology diploma, academics were her first priority, but building a community was a close second. Kailey served as class treasurer and was involved in many fundraisers. She found employment as a student library assistant and on weekends at the Fairview Curling Club canteen. She attended Fairview Flyers games and worked hard to get involved.
"Getting to know so many people made my time here more enriching and exciting," says Kailey.
Acceptance to Northwestern Polytechnic's Veterinary Technology diploma fulfilled Kailey's childhood dream of helping animals. The coursework lived up to her expectations, as did the hands-on clinic work she got to experience. She'll complete her practicum in an Edmonton emergency clinic and plans to continue working in emergency and orthopedic medicine. Long-term, Kailey sees a degree in veterinary medicine in her future.
Kailey says that her wholehearted involvement in the school and community was the key to her success. "It helped me feel that I was exactly where I belonged," she says. "The community helped me feel more at home and gave me people who could support me."
NWP President and CEO Vanessa Sheane congratulated Kailey and all of the Fairview graduates, remarking that their commitment to their studies will open many doors for them.
"This hardworking group of students has demonstrated great diligence and determination," said Sheane. "I'm confident that the Fairview Class of 2025 will continue to make Northwestern Polytechnic proud as they progress to further success in our communities."
