In a time of growing demand for quality, inclusive and accessible early learning and care programs, Mount Royal University's Faculty of Continuing Education is offering a free introductory course on Early Learning and Care in Alberta. The online course is a micro-credential and is part of the required courses to earn the Bridge to Early Learning and Child Care Extension Certificate.
This course is designed for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners looking to explore the role of an early childhood education professional as a possible career working with children and families in Alberta. The course is also suitable for those currently working in child care looking for professional development that exposes them to the most recent research and curriculum in the field.
"The courses are designed to immerse EAL learners in the latest research and best practices in early learning, including the foundational concepts in Flight, Alberta's early learning framework. This content aims to facilitate a seamless transition from student to professional, equipping learners with the skills and knowledge essential for success in early childhood education," says Dr. Susan Garrow-Oliver, PhD, course developer and instructor.
The next offering of Introduction to Early Learning and Care in Alberta, which is offered free of charge, starts January 17, 2025. Interested potential students can visit the course page to learn more.
