Asset Management Professional Program Aligns to Updated Global Resources and Standards

September 9, 2024

The Asset Management Professional (AMP) Certification program, developed by PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada (PEMAC), has been updated to align with recent revisions of knowledge and standards by leading global maintenance and asset management organizations.

PEMAC subject matter expert volunteers worked throughout the summer to revise the AMP curriculum based on updates to: IAM Anatomy version 4, the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) Asset Management Landscape version 3 and the ISO 55000x:2024 standards. These resources provide guidance and best practices for organizations to improve efficiency, reduce risk and enhance their overall asset management processes. The revision emphasizes the importance of context and stakeholders; value realization with a focus on knowledge management; and organizational change management.

AMP is a six-course program which introduces participants to the latest in strategic asset management thinking; develops the capacity to engage others and build their knowledge and skill in key subject areas such as risk management and knowledge management; and introduces tools for strategic decision making at each stage of the asset lifecycle.

The program is designed for mid-career professionals from a variety of backgrounds (IT, engineering and business management) who have responsibility for managing decisions with respect to the core life cycle functions such as design, selection, operation and maintenance of an organization's assets.

It's critical to ensure AMP curriculum is current with global resources and standards so course participants have the latest information to effectively manage their organization's physical assets. A special thank you to the revision team for their speedy efforts.

Nicolle Guillen, PEMAC Education and Professional Development Manager
