COLLEGE OF THE ROCKIES
College's Annual Open House more interactive than ever

November 6, 2023

A manikin that gives birth is just one of the interactive demonstrations for attendees of College of the Rockies' Open House on November 4 between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm

November 4 event will take place from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

A nursing manikin that gives birth, dental assistant demonstrations, a welding simulator to test your skills, a carpentry CNC demonstration.  These are just some of the interactive presentations that will be available at College of the Rockies' annual Open House, taking place Saturday, November 4 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

"People are often surprised by the extent of our facilities and program offerings," said Jennifer Inglis, Recruitment Officer. "We are excited to welcome the community to visit our campus; meet our faculty, staff, and students; take part in our interactive presentations; and learn about our more than 60 programs."

Those interested in a university education will see how all degrees can start at the College, learn about dual credit opportunities, and see demonstrations from Biology, Chemistry, Geology, and Physics faculty. Business and tourism faculty will be on hand to discuss their various programs, while the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will demonstrate their simulator manikin as she gives birth to a little manikin baby.

The Dental Assistant program will be providing tours and demos, Kinesiology will offer fitness testing, and you can play Plinko with Child, Youth and Family studies faculty while learning about their programs.

Trades faculty will also be on hand to demonstrate some of their state-of-the-art technology including the Carpentry program's CNC machine. A 24M Grader Simulator will be demonstrated outside the Gymnasium entrance.

"We also look forward to introducing the public to our new Idea Lab; our innovations in teaching and learning, including virtual reality goggles in the classroom; study abroad opportunities, and our new Learning Commons" Inglis said. "Since last year's Open House, the College has experienced many changes as we continue to grow to give our students the best possible experience."

Attendees at this year's Open House can also enter to win prizes, including a $1,000 tuition voucher.
