AURORA COLLEGE
Gahcho Kué Mine Early Learning and Child Care Bursaries Awarded to 12 Aurora College Graduates

August 8, 2023

Gahcho Kué Mine and Aurora College are pleased to announce the Gahcho Kué Mine Early Learning and Child Care Bursary recipients for 2023. The bursaries are awarded to the top 12 Northwest Territories (NWT) resident graduates of the college's distance Early Learning and Child Care Program.

The program was launched in 2022 and the $2,000 bursaries will be awarded annually until 2030. The bursaries support online certificate and diploma graduates who live in the NWT. Most graduates are already working in childcare facilities or in the classroom as assistants in local schools. As a result, they do not have the opportunity to focus solely on their studies. These bursaries are awarded in acknowledgement of their accomplishments under that added pressure.  Gahcho Kué will provide $24,000 annually to support the scholarships, totaling $216,000 over the life of the program.
