ROYAL ROADS UNIVERSITY
Future skills grant offers choice to develop new skills at RRU

August 8, 2023

Thanks to the new StrongerBC future skills grant, students at every age and stage across BC will have the opportunity to develop new skills, gain industry-specific knowledge and accelerate their careers at Royal Roads.

The grant of up to $3,500.00 CDN toward tuition is now available to British Columbians aged 19 or older, regardless of financial need.

Royal Roads has five professional certificates and nine micro-credentials to choose from that are eligible for the grant, offering training and skills that are suited to a variety of career goals. Courses that cover everything from supervisory skills to dispute resolution to mineral exploration are available now.

"These are great choices for the needs of the workforce," says Zoe MacLeod, associate vice-president of Professional and Continuing Studies at Royal Roads. "And some programs can lead into graduate certificates or a graduate degree. It's an excellent opportunity to explore a subject area, gain skills and competence, and discover areas of study that you are passionate about or that will lead to advancement in your current career path."

Eligible programs at Royal Roads:

  • Professional certificates: these programs allow you to learn at your own pace to develop a deep understanding of skills. Explore Advanced Facilitation Practices, Management & Leadership, Project and Change Management, Professional Communication or Effective People Management.
  • Micro-credentials: these short, focused, and assessed learning experiences allow for a deep understanding of a topic that will build skills, confidence and help you to demonstrate competency. Choose from a variety of topics including digital transformation, climate adaptation, and customer service.

Royal Roads wishes to acknowledge the Government of BC for funding the future skills grant program. To learn more or sign up, visit the Royal Roads StrongerBC future skills listings on the Professional and Continuing Studies site.
