Northlands College is proud to announce a significant milestone in its commitment to empowering Northern communities and meeting the evolving needs of the mining industry. In response to increasing demand from both local communities and the mining sector, Northlands College is relocating its Mineral Exploration Techniques program to Buffalo Narrows, SK, on the west side of Northern Saskatchewan.
This strategic move comes as part of Northlands College's ongoing efforts to provide industry-specific skills to Northern residents, equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the mining sector. With the focus shifting towards meeting the needs of industry partners, Northlands College is taking proactive steps to ensure that educational opportunities are readily accessible to rural communities.
Karsten Henriksen, President and CEO of Northlands College, emphasized the importance of this transition, stating, "At Northlands College, we recognize the significance of providing industry-specific skills to Northern residents. By relocating our Mineral Exploration Techniques program to Buffalo Narrows, we are not only increasing educational opportunities for rural communities but also addressing the labor needs of the mining industry. This proactive step contributes to the economic development and infrastructure of local communities by providing them with the means to meet industry demands."
