Forrest Spencer, an accomplished RCMP veteran and native Islander, was sworn in as executive director of the Atlantic Police Academy, Holland College president Dr. Brian McMillan announced on February 5th.

Spencer has a B.A. and a certificate in Police Leadership, and is working toward a designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources. He served as a member of the RCMP for over 28 years, most recently as Chief Superintendent and Director General responsible for the Executive/Officer Development and Resourcing Unit in Ottawa. He has a broad range of experience in federal and contract policing, and has established an extensive network within several provincial municipalities, the RCMP, other national police services, as well as with some international police services.
"We are pleased to have such an esteemed and experienced professional joining us to lead the Atlantic Police Academy," said Dr. McMillan. "We are confident that Mr. Spencer's expertise in policing, and his excellent administrative and leadership skills will serve him well in his new position."
Spencer plans to build on the accomplishments that have already been achieved at the Atlantic Police Academy and continue to enhance and strengthen program offerings.
"I am really looking forward to working with the team to build on the positive training that is already being undertaken at the Atlantic Police Academy," he said. "I think that training women and men who have made the conscious decision to serve their fellow Canadians is extremely important and I am excited to be part of that."
