Mark your calendars for the 34th annual Open House at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), on Saturday, September 28, from 10 am to 2 pm.
A part of UPEI's Homecoming Weekend, the AVC Open House provides a rare opportunity to explore the captivating world of veterinary medicine. This free, family-friendly event will feature tours of select areas within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and offering guests an inside look at the College's state-of-the-art facilities.
Visitors will have the chance to meet various animals, participate in interactive displays, and discover more about student clubs dedicated to animal care and welfare. They can also connect with veterinary students, faculty, and staff to learn more about their work and learning experiences. Children are encouraged to bring their beloved stuffed animals for a check-up at the ever-popular Teddy Bear Clinic, get temporary animal tattoos, and stay for the fun-filled dog show, sponsored by Ren's Pets!
"The AVC Open House is a wonderful opportunity for the public to experience the exciting work we do," said Dr. Dominique Griffon, dean of the AVC. "It's also a chance to meet our future veterinarians and hear their inspiring stories about entering the field."
Organized by students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, this event is one of the largest and most popular open houses in Atlantic Canada, drawing thousands of visitors each year since its launch in 1990.
