New cardio, strength equipment, and air conditioning set to enhance the Fitness Centre this fall

October 10, 2024
The Athletics and Recreation Department is excited to announce that new fitness equipment will soon be arriving at the Fitness Centre located in the Wallace McCain Student Centre. The equipment will replace most of the current cardio and strength training machines within the facility.

The upgraded equipment will be introduced in phases, with the first delivery expected in October. During this time, there will be adaptations to the equipment set up to ensure minimal disruption to members. The remainder will be delivered by mid-November.

The new equipment from Matrix Fitness includes cardio machines, such as treadmills, ellipticals, indoor bicycles, and rowers. New strength training equipment includes free weights, barbells, and selectorized strength machines.

These improvements are necessary to better meet the needs of our students, staff, and the wider community who use the Fitness Centre.

Cooling Upgrades to the Fitness Centre

Another exciting upgrade includes the installation of a new air conditioning system in the Fitness Centre. Facilities Management is currently working on this project, with the cooling system expected to be fully operational later this term.
