Wilfrid Laurier University will celebrate the accomplishments of approximately 3,552 graduating students at convocation ceremonies on its Brantford and Waterloo campuses.
Two Brantford campus ceremonies will take place at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts on June 6. The Waterloo campus will hold 12 ceremonies at the Lazaridis Hall Auditorium from June 12-16.
As of May 30, 2,995 students qualified to graduate in Waterloo, while 557 qualified to graduate in Brantford. Laurier expects to confer 2,940 undergraduate degrees, 511 graduate degrees and 101 diplomas this month.
Five accomplished Canadians will be honoured with honorary degrees at the spring convocation ceremonies, along with other university award recipients, listed by ceremony below:
June 6, 10 a.m., Brantford
- Honorary Doctor of Laws: Gary Lipinski, former president of the Métis Nation of Ontario
- Faculty Award for Service Excellence and Community Engagement: Christina Han, associate professor, Faculty of Liberal Arts
June 12, 1 p.m., Waterloo
- University Research Professor award: Kim Roberts, professor of Psychology
- Order of Wilfrid Laurier University: Kenneth Hewitt, professor emeritus of Geography and Environmental Studies
June 13, 9:30 a.m., Waterloo
- Honorary Doctor of Laws: Mandy Bujold, 11-time national boxing champion and Olympian
June 14, 9:30 a.m., Waterloo
- Honorary Doctor of Laws: Wilton Littlechild, global Indigenous rights advocate
June 14, 1 p.m., Waterloo
- University Research Professor award: Jenna Hennebry, professor, Communication Studies
June 15, 1 p.m., Waterloo
- Distinguished Governor Award: Recipient to be announced.
June 16, 9:30 a.m., Waterloo
- Honorary Doctor of Music: Jane Archibald (B.Mus. '99), celebrated opera singer
- Honorary Doctor of Laws: Maggie MacDonnell, global teaching prize winner
- Faculty Award for Service Excellence and Community Engagement: Jerzy Kaplanek, professor, Faculty of Music
