A ROADMAP FOR CHANGE
University of Windsor Launches its First People, Equity & Inclusion Strategy

January 28, 2025

The University's inaugural People, Equity & Inclusion Strategy serves as a blueprint to foster a more equitable, inclusive, and healthy environment in which to work, innovate, and learn, says Clinton Beckford, UWindsor vice-president, people, equity and inclusion.

"This marks a significant milestone in our collective commitment to fostering a truly inclusive and equitable environment for all members of our campus community," says Dr. Beckford. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, expertise, and valuable insights throughout the strategy development process. Your feedback has been instrumental in shaping this roadmap for meaningful and lasting change."

The strategy aligns with the University's "Aspire" strategic plan and builds upon extensive information gathered through various processes and consultations, including the Charles C. Smith Report; the report and implementation plan of the Anti-Black Racism Task Force; the assessment of equity, diversity and inclusion and Indigeneity and decolonization by Higher Education Strategy Associates; the 2022 Employee Engagement survey ; and the Employee Mental Health Strategy.

"The document incorporates the feedback from many voices, including members from the Consultative Working Group, the PE&I Division, the EDID Senate sub-committee, senior leaders, and the broader campus community," says Marcela Ciampa, organizational effectiveness strategist and strategy development lead. "The next steps include developing an implementation matrix and a measurement framework to track progress towards our vision."

The strategy document can be found on the People, Equity & Inclusion Strategy website.
