Five Brock University faculty members will be awarded the honorary title of Distinguished Professor in recognition of significant contributions to their academic fields.
The lifetime appointment is the highest honorary designation at Brock, recognizing full professors who have demonstrated exceptional research, scholarship or creative activity by the standards of their discipline.

Five professors at Brock University have been recognized with the Distinguished Professor designation in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in their respective disciplines.
The appointments are awarded by the Office of the President and will be recognized as part of Brock's 117th Convocation, which takes place from Tuesday, June 10 to Friday, June 13.
Brock President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg says the designation aligns with the University's strategic priorities to recognize and celebrate the significant impact that research, scholarship and creative activity have both locally and around the world. This designation also reflects the global esteem these faculty command, Rigg says, as well as their invaluable contributions to bringing the world to Brock and Brock to the world.
"These Distinguished Professors exemplify the outstanding academic achievements of our faculty across a wide spectrum of disciplines, and their dedication to research excellence, innovation, community engagement and mentoring the next generation of scholars is an inspiration to our entire University community," Rigg says. "Their groundbreaking contributions have fundamentally shaped their fields of study, and they truly embody the values, mission and spirit of Brock University."

Appointments are recognized at Convocation and remain until retirement, at which point the holders become Distinguished Professors Emeriti/ae.
These faculty members also join their colleagues who were awarded the inaugural Distinguished Professor designation last year.
All Full Professors at Brock University who have demonstrated exceptional scholarly achievement in their field are eligible for the appointment.
Every fall, an open call for nominations will be announced to the Brock community by the Senate Research and Scholarship Policy Committee.
Nominations are supported by Brock University faculty and the nominee's corresponding Dean, as well as scholars of prominent standing in the nominee's field from outside of the University.
The achievements and impact of each recipient will also be recognized and celebrated in The Brock News in the weeks to come.
