The University of New Brunswick and the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) are proud to announce the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) that creates a streamlined pathway for students pursuing careers in social work.
This agreement recognizes CCNB's Technique en service social et communautaire (TSSC) diploma as a qualifying program for entry into UNB's Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), allowing eligible graduates to receive up to 60 credits toward their degree.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving access to postsecondary education and strengthening the social services workforce in New Brunswick.
"We are thrilled to see this type of collaboration between postsecondary institutions working towards a common goal of expanding access to education for New Brunswickers," said Post-Secondary Education and Training Minister Jean-Claude D'Amours. "This news comes at a critical time when social workers are in high demand, and we look forward to seeing more prospective students able to follow this rewarding career path."
"This agreement creates new opportunities for CCNB graduates to continue their studies and advance their careers in social work," said CCNB President and CEO Dr. Pierre Zundel. "It also helps ensure that our communities benefit from highly trained, bilingual professionals, in an important and rewarding career that will help communities in New Brunswick stay safe and healthy."
"UNB is pleased to collaborate with CCNB to support student mobility and academic pathways," said Dr. Kathy Wilson, acting president and vice chancellor of UNB. "By recognizing prior learning and experience, we are making it easier for students to pursue a degree in social work, to build their careers here in New Brunswick and to contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities across the province, a mission UNB is always proud to support."
Under the terms of the agreement, graduates of the CCNB TSSC diploma who achieve a minimum average of 70 per cent will be eligible to apply for admission to UNB's BSW program, in accordance with standard admission requirements.
This collaboration also strengthens alignment between college and university programs, ensuring that students are well prepared to pursue advanced studies without losing time. By making it easier to move between institutions, it helps individuals across New Brunswick achieve their life and career goals.
The agreement will be in effect for an initial period of five years, with opportunities for renewal and ongoing review to maintain program quality and relevance.
