CONESTOGA COLLEGE
Business school continues SheMeansBusiness series to inspire future leaders

June 18, 2025

Conestoga's School of Business hosted a day-long SheMeansBusiness event for high school girls and gender minority youth to explore the world of business through hands-on activities and meaningful connections.

Students were welcomed to the Kitchener - Doon campus on Saturday, May 3, to put their innovative thinking to the test by designing logos, building budgets and pitching business ideas focused on sustainability and social impact.

"These future leaders brought curiosity, confidence, and a passion for change to every challenge," said event organizer Jamie Wiebe, chair in the School of Business.

"It was an empowering experience where students connected with mentors, alumni and faculty, tackled real-world business scenarios, and saw firsthand what's possible when inclusion and community are at the heart of learning."

The School of Business plans to continue hosting events to empower the next generation of business changemakers.

The inaugural SheMeansBusiness event held in November connected business students with alumni to inspire and empower women and gender minorities by fostering their interest in business education. That was followed by a March gathering around the theme "Empowering Financial Independence" for current students and alumni.

The next session scheduled for October is focused on career exploration featuring an alumni panel, industry partners and regulatory bodies. Two more events are planned for 2026, including one focused on personal branding and another high school engagement day.

"SheMeansBusiness is a welcoming and inclusive space that centres on women and gender minorities while encouraging participation from individuals of all genders, orientations and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome," Wiebe said.

The School of Business provides numerous options, opportunities and pathways for students to complete, specialize or expand their business education. Programs reflect today's business needs across a wide range of credentials, from apprenticeships, one-year certificates, two-year and three-year advanced diplomas, to graduate certificates and degree opportunities that include multiple specializations. Bachelor's degree programs include International Business Management; Accounting, Audit and Information Technology; and Financial Services.
