Kimberley Greenwood, a highly respected public safety leader and long-time community advocate, has been named the 2025-26 Chair of Georgian College's Board of Governors.

Kimberley Greenwood, 2025-26 Chair of Georgian College's Board of Governors.

Greenwood joined the board in 2021 and has served on several committees, including Policy and By-law Review, Recognition, Nominations, Finance and Audit, and the Executive Committee. Most recently, she held the role of Vice Chair.

"I'm deeply honoured to serve as Chair and to continue building on the work of my fellow governors," said Greenwood. "Public service has always been at the heart of my career, and I see this role as an extension of that commitment. Georgian's strengths in student success, innovation and partnerships are ensuring a future-ready workforce."

Greenwood retired in 2023 after a distinguished 42-year career in policing. She began her service with the Toronto Police Service in 1981 and rose through the ranks before being appointed Chief of Police for the Barrie Police Service in 2013. In her decade as Chief, she was recognized for her collaborative leadership, focus on community safety and well-being, and ability to guide teams through both opportunities and challenges. She's currently Principal of GreenMeadows Consulting.

Her leadership extends far beyond policing. Greenwood has held executive roles with the Canadian and Ontario Associations of Chiefs of Police, and she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre Simcoe Muskoka, among other community initiatives. She is an active volunteer locally, provincially and nationally, focusing on anti-racism, youth development, and community wellness.

"Kimberley brings extensive leadership experience, governance knowledge and an unwavering dedication to our community," said Kevin Weaver, Georgian's President and CEO. "Her career has been defined by service, collaboration and a deep commitment to people. These qualities will be invaluable as she takes on this important role supporting both the board and Georgian College."

Greenwood received numerous honours throughout her career, including the Order of Merit of the Police Forces, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Exemplary Service Medal. These awards reflect her lifelong commitment to public service, leadership, and community well-being, and underscore the values she brings to her role as Chair of Georgian's Board of Governors.
