St. Lawrence College (SLC) is thrilled to announce the outstanding achievements of its students at the recent Skills Ontario competition. Held on May 6th and 7th the event showcased the exceptional skills and talents of young professionals including 15 SLC competitors in 11 different disciplines.
SLC's Nathan Orr, a student from the General Machinist Apprenticeship program, won the gold medal in Precision Machining. Nathan's victory marks a significant milestone for St. Lawrence College, as it represents the first gold medal in an industrial trade since our gold in Esthetics. Last year, Nathan won silver in the same category, demonstrating his dedication and continuous improvement in his skills.
Students Hardik Sakariya and Ketul Patel also won the bronze medal in the team event for Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Hardik and Ketul, representing the Environmental Technician program, showcased exemplary teamwork, technical proficiency, and problem-solving skills throughout the competition.

Nathan Orr was coached by faculty, Clint Lawrence, Bruce McGregor, and John McGrath. Similarly, Hardik Sakariya and Ketul Patel received invaluable guidance from faculty Matt Windle and Ziad Ewais whose mentorship contributed significantly to their success.
The Skills Ontario competition serves as a platform for students to showcase their skills, gain valuable experience, and connect with industry professionals. St. Lawrence College remains committed to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and empowering students to excel in their chosen fields.
