Loyalist College Launches Summer Arts Experience in Bancroft, Belleville, Tyendinaga and Port Hope

May 9, 2024

Advancing on its commitment to delivering enriching programming to the communities it serves, Loyalist College is proud to launch the Summer Arts Experience in Bancroft, Belleville, Tyendinaga and Port Hope.

From the serene focus of a painting class to the satisfaction of shaping clay on the pottery wheel, the program offers hands-on creative arts experiences for community members to explore new talents or hone existing skills under the guidance of practicing artists. Running weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the month of July, weeklong courses will cater to a range of interests, mediums and skill levels. Participants will have access to a variety of courses that include painting, quilting, beading, mosaics, photography and more.

"In addition to Loyalist's career-focused academic offerings, we are pleased to offer this selection of condensed creative courses, which focus on supporting personal and artistic growth in a welcoming and inspiring environment," says Loyalist College President and CEO Mark Kirkpatrick. "As Loyalist expands its presence beyond Belleville, we continue to seek new ways to add value to our extended community, responding to local needs and creating opportunities for individuals to connect and engage. We are thrilled to revitalize this much-loved arts program and broaden its reach across our locations in Belleville, Port Hope, Tyendinaga and Bancroft."

To celebrate, Loyalist will host a launch event on May 13 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the college's Bancroft location (195 Hastings St. N., Bancroft, ON). Attendees can register for classes, view artwork from the instructors, and learn more about the program offerings this summer. All community members are welcome.

"Arts education brings people together, supporting community-building, creative thinking and personal growth," says Loyalist College Vice-President, Students, Sandra Dupret. "From painting and drawing to photography and beyond, there is something for everyone at Loyalist's Summer Arts Experience."

Registration for the Summer Arts Experience opens May 13. For more information, visit loyalistcollege.com/art.
