MOHAWK COLLEGE
Mohawk named a top employer for the 12th straight year

January 31, 2025

In a region rich with history and home to worldclass research facilities, hospitals, and postsecondary institutions, it's hardly surprising that employers in the Hamilton-Niagara area are looking to the future and investing in their employees. That's the message from Hamilton-Niagara's Top Employers (2025), announced this week by Mediacorp Canada Inc., which organizes the Canada's Top 100 Employers project. The Hamilton-Niagara winners were announced in a special magazine published by The Hamilton Spectator.

"It is through the dedication and hard work of Mohawk College employees that our students flourish," said Chief Human Resources Officer Megan Mascarin. "We are committed to making employees feel supported at work and in their personal lives."

Mohawk College has been named one of Hamilton-Niagara's Top Employers for the 12th consecutive year. Some reasons cited for the college being honoured this year include: the college's offering numerous wellness workshops and sessions addressing a range of topics, including mental health first aid, stress management and achieving work-life balance -- and offers a generous mental health practitioner benefit as part of its health benefits plan; its generous maternity and parental leave top-up support; and subsidized memberships to on-site fitness facility that features a complete range of workout equipment, gymnasiums and instructor-led fitness classes.

In its 18th edition, Hamilton-Niagara's Top Employers is an editorial competition that recognizes employers with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies in the Hamilton-Niagara area. Editors at Mediacorp review employers on eight criteria, which have remained consistent since the project's inception: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Any employer, private or public sector, with its 2 head office or principal place of business in the Hamilton-Niagara area may apply for this competition.
