Niagara University in Ontario Partners with Canadian Institute of Financial Planning® for Personal Finance Course

Niagara University in Ontario is excited to announce a new partnership with the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning® to provide a comprehensive course in personal finance, designed to prepare students for the qualifying exams required to earn the Chartered Financial Planner® designation.

The course, titled Case Studies in Financial Planning (FIN 678), covers essential topics necessary for success on the Chartered Financial Planner exams and in Canada's banking, investment advisory, and insurance industries. Through the use of relevant case studies and leveraging professional experiences, the course will delve into areas such as investment strategies, retirement planning, taxation, and risk management. It is ideal for individuals looking to advance their careers in financial services by gaining the skills and knowledge needed to help clients achieve their financial goals. Financial institutions across Canada are in search of professionals equipped with these competencies.

Course Highlights:

  • Schedule: The course is a 5-week course offered online on Saturdays
  • Materials: Students will engage with case study materials and integrate their own professional experiences to better understand and relate to the topics discussed.
  • Extended Access: Students will have ongoing online access to the professor for up to one year after the course concludes, providing additional support as they prepare for the Chartered Financial Planner exams.
  • Advanced Standing: This course can potentially earn advanced standing towards Niagara University in Ontario's MBA program.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Patrick O'Meara brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. With 15 years of teaching experience in both Canada and the United States and extensive work in retail and business banking in Canada, Patrick is well-equipped to guide students through complex financial concepts. He is a two-time recipient of teaching awards from the Association of International CPAs and the author of two books on relevant financial topics. Patrick's engaging teaching style and his ability to draw on both his and his students' experiences make him a valuable asset to the course.
