Saints Esports Nominated for 12 NACE Awards

St. Clair College's Esports program has been nominated for 12 National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Awards, the most nominations of any college or university in North America.

The Saints have been recognized as finalists in the following categories:

  • Program of the Year
  • Outstanding Event - Saints Gauntlet Series
  • Outstanding Marketing Team
  • Outstanding Production Team

A number of individuals have also been recognized for their work in their respective areas of collegiate Esports, including:

  • Assistant Director of the Year - Chris Funston
  • Broadcast Producer of the Year - Owen Parker
  • Broadcast Producer of the Year - Adrian Malhiers
  • Broadcast Talent of the Year - Theodor Ivaniv
  • Social Media Producer of the Year - Alexa Kovacevich
  • Student Leadership Award - Adrian Malhiers
  • Support Staff of the Year - Valerie Shih-Lau
  • Educator of the Year - Shaun Byrne

St. Clair College's Saints varsity team had a tremendous year of competition, winning seven Canadian National Championships in the Fall 2024 semester. Teams also won the Collegiate Rocket League North American Championship in Spring 2025 as well as the Call of Duty NACE Varsity Premier in Spring 2025.

The Esports club ran more than 50 on-campus events, ranging from student led trading card game nights, high school initiatives and esports camps to collegiate invitationals featuring schools from across North America.

The Esports Administration and Entrepreneurship program also partnered with GGtech to be the official broadcast partner for the University Esports College Championships for League of Legends and VALORANT.

They completed 252 total broadcasts over the course of the 2024/25 academic year, including more than 200 students with the Esports program as players, team managers, broadcasters, content creators and more.

The NACE awards will be held at the upcoming NACE Annual Convention at the University of Texas at Dallas from July 23-25, 2025.
