Mr. Bill Ford appointed as new Superintendent of Schools effective August 1, 2016

The Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Bill Ford as the Superintendent of Schools effective August 1, 2016.  Bill will be replacing Mr. Greg Luterbach who is leaving the district for an opportunity outside of BC. 

"On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bill as our new Superintendent", says Teri Ferworn, Chairperson of the Board of Education.  "Bill is well respected in our district and has demonstrated strong leadership over the eight years he has been serving our communities.  His focus on student achievement and staff development has put us in a strong position to implement the various facets of the BC Education Plan."

Mr. Ford has been with the district since 2008 originally as Director of Instruction and for the last three years as Assistant Superintendent.  Prior to joining SD20, Bill was an intermediate teacher, elementary school principal, secondary school vice-principal plus four years in a district office role in School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert).  Bill earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba and a Masters' degree from Simon Fraser University related to curriculum and instruction.

Bill has been instrumental in leading and implementing the Board's commitment to learning - both student and staff learning.  He has been a visible champion for supporting our staff as we implement new curriculum.  He has worked with parents and schools on a wide variety of topics related to his portfolio. 

"We want to thank Superintendent Greg Luterbach for his contributions over the eleven years of service to our communities", says Ferworn.  "On behalf of the Board of Education we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.  We are excited to have Bill onboard as we continue to work hard to enhance the life chances of our students."
