Delview Students Set New Record in their annual Thanks 4 Giving Food Drive

October 18, 2023

Last night (Oct 12), students at Delview Secondary set a new record for collecting non-perishable food items from homes and businesses all across North Delta during their annual Thanks 4 Giving (T4G) food drive. This year's final tally rang in at an impressive 26,449 non-perishable food items for local food banks.

Thanks 4 Giving is one of the largest single-night food drives in B.C. This year's event was the 31st annual food drive organized by Delview students. The food items collected are donated to the Surrey Food Bank and Deltassist to help local families. Since its inception in 1992, the event has collected more than 460,000 non-perishable food items.

"We would like to thank our T4G committee for all the long hours and hard work organizing this 31 year tradition. Thanks also to our Delview staff, students and parents, both past and present. Without your help we never would have been able to put our plan into action. We would also like to thank our surrounding community and businesses for their continued generosity.  We know times are tough right now and we didn't know how much we would collect, we definitely didn't expect to break our record like we did!  Together we proved again, that Delview continues to be the small school with a big heart, well done Raiders!" said Lindsay Bochen, Teacher and T4G Organizing Committee.

"Thanks 4 Giving has also been one of the most memorable events of the year at Delview. Seeing our school community come together to make a difference and collect so many food items for our local food banks makes me proud on the impact Delview has had in our community," said Joshua Thoreson, Student and T4G Committee Member.
