Students at Annieville Elementary, located at 9240 112 Street in Delta, are enjoying a beautiful new mural on the exterior of the school.
"We wanted to reflect Annieville's history as a fishing community through the fishing boats, fisherman and salmon," said Susan Parmar, Principal at Annieville Elementary. "As we are the Annieville Seahwaks, we wanted the focal point of our mural to be an osprey. We also wanted to depict our natural surroundings with the cedar trees, mountains and river."
Staff at the school helped with ideas for the initial concept and provided feedback on draft designs. Garry Brookes, a local artist and Delta parent, created the beautiful design and had assistance from Dara Dibrivna in painting the mural, which extends along the top half of the entire front wall of the school. The school's PAC raised funds for the mural.
Feedback on the new mural has been extremely positive, with sentiments expressed that it truly reflects the local community's heritage.
