Richmond School District #38 was recognized as one of the winners of the Richmond Building Energy Challenge last week at City Council. This is a two year friendly competition organized by the City of Richmond to reduce energy and water waste and support efficient building operation. The Challenge utilizes individual building Energy Star scores to measure building performance, taking into account climate, weather and specific business activities at the properties.
The two School District buildings which were recognized for highest year over year savings were Palmer Secondary and Quilchena Elementary. The award was accepted on behalf of the School District by Dina Mously, Manager of Energy and Sustainability. The other two winners of the challenge were Port Metro Authority and the Airport Authority.
