At an in-camera meeting on October 27, the Richmond Board of Education directed staff to obtain additional data relevant to a potential employee vaccination policy.
The board is approaching this subject in a careful and thoughtful manner, and will continue to seek guidance from the Ministry of Education, the BC Public School Employers' Association and local public health officials. The board recognizes this is an important public health and labour relations issue and will take the time to gather the necessary information in order to make an informed decision.
The board will reconvene in-camera for further discussions on this matter on November 24 and will communicate whether or not it intends to begin the formal process described in the K-12 Sector Guidelines for Vaccination Policies.
