The Nature Room at Seaview Community Schools was created by Librarian Sheri Evans as a way to allow students to explore and learn about native animals and plants in BC and Canada as well as First Nation's culture.
The exhibit is interactive and informative with many engaging activities for grades K-8 including:
- Seeing growing salmon
- Watching for the birth of new butterflies
- Visiting expert camouflage bugs
- Sorting and classifying seashells
- Checking out the skeletal remains of several native animal species
- Playing "Read, Guess, Look" game & learn more about BC animals
- Identifying animals by their fur
- Looking through microscopes at bugs and other tiny things
- Identifying invasive plant & animal species
- Figuring out what plants are safe to eat and which are poisonous
- and many more
