GREATER VICTORIA SCHOOL DISTRICT
Victoria Secondary Students Return from Sister City in Japan

December 12, 2025

Victoria International Education organized a group of 7 students to visit Morioka for a cultural and educational experience.

During November 16 to 22, seven high school students from within the Greater Victoria School District visited Morioka City in Japan for an educational and cultural experience.

Morioka City has been sending students to the Greater Victoria School District for over 30 years. Last year, the District was able to reciprocate thanks to the support and organization by Victoria International Education and following a delegation of Morioka City Hall officials who visited Victoria and met with the District's Superintendent to discuss a cultural learning and sharing opportunity. The support continued this year for the second visit of Victoria students to the sister city.

The group spent a week experiencing classes and club activities at a local high school while experiencing day-to-day culture while living with Japanese homestay families.

"Our team of international education professionals sincerely appreciates the opportunity to work with our wonderful students and their families, and our partners from around the world," says Dr. Jeff Davis, Director of Victoria International Education. "Quality educational programming, excellent student support, and a strong Homestay Program all help to ensure the continued success of our students in Victoria."

Information about future study abroad initiatives as well as the application process can be found on Victoria International Education's website at studyinvictoria.com.
