This week, construction will begin on Elk Island Public Schools' (EIPS) new K-6 school. During the first week, the contractor will be moving trailers and tool shacks onto the site, as well as beginning to move topsoil in preparation for building. The Division anticipates this phase will begin on or about Wednesday, May 31.
There may be temporary lane and sidewalk closures while the structures are put in place and earth-moving equipment is brought in. EIPS apologizes for any short-term inconvenience this may cause.
To ensure the safety of community members, the site will be fenced and closed to public access until construction is complete in 2018.
NOTE: All work is weather-dependent and may have to be rescheduled with short notice.
Weekly updates will be shared on the EIPS website, Twitter, Facebook and via email.
Questions and concerns during the construction phase can be directed to EIPS Communication Services at 780-417-3477 or email communications@eips.ca.
EIPS is one of Alberta's largest school divisions, serving approximately 17,100 students in 42 schools. We are proud to be an integral part of our communities, including Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Vegreville, Strathcona and Lamont counties, and the western portion of the County of Minburn.
