Big Rock school welcomes Rebecca Forchuk as Principal for 2024-2025

We are pleased to share that Ms. Rebecca Forchuk has been appointed Principal at Big Rock School for the 2024-2025 school year. Rebecca is an experienced and accomplished school leader and brings 15 years of school and system leadership to this position. Rebecca held appointments as vice principal at both C. Ian McLaren School and Red Deer Lake School (2009 -2012) before serving as the Director of Staff Development from 2012-2018. In 2018, Rebecca was appointed as the inaugural Principal at Meadow Ridge School.

As Principal, Ms. Forchuk has proven herself to be a strong advocate for her school community, She has supported students, staff, and families by establishing positive relationships with all in the community and always acting in the best interest of her students. Rebecca recognizes that all members of the school community have key contributions to make, and she welcomes the opportunity to collaborate and engage with the school community in ensuring optimal learning opportunities continue for all students at Big Rock School.

Ms. Forchuk holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge and a Master of Education (School Administration) from Gonzaga University. She also holds her Alberta Education Leadership Certification (LQS). 

Ms. Forchuk shares, "I am extremely proud and grateful for the opportunity to open Meadow Ridge School. I appreciate how supportive and collaborative both staff and parents have been over the last six years and I will miss the Meadow Ridge community immensely.  We built a strong vision together, and even during several changes and COVID-19, we focused on what matters - student success.  The students will always be near and dear to my heart and I know they will continue to make a positive difference in our community.  I am very excited to reconnect with the staff at Big Rock! All three of my boys were Big Rock Badgers and I have provided professional learning during my days as the Director of Staff Development. I look forward to building strong, trusting relationships with the community and continuing to move learning forward."

Ms. Forchuk can be proud of the incredible work she and her team at Meadow Ridge School have accomplished as she navigated the school through construction to the flourishing school community it is today.   Rebecca's passion for collaborating with teachers, support staff and community around a shared vision for student engagement, support and success will support the accomplished and veteran educational team at Big Rock School."
