The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) has updated the title of Cynthia Shelley-Lewis to Assistant Superintendent of Inclusive Learning. This change reflects the scope of system-level responsibilities currently assigned to the role.

Cynthia's journey with FMPSD spans over two decades, during which she has made a significant impact in various roles. She began as a high school Social Studies teacher at Composite High School and Westwood Community High School, later serving as a School Counsellor. Cynthia went on to spend 11 years as an Administrator and nearly five years as the Director of Inclusive Learning, where she championed equitable and meaningful learning opportunities for students with exceptionalities.
Cynthia's academic achievements further highlight her dedication to education and leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Prince Edward Island. Additionally, she has attained the Superintendent Quality Standard Certification from the University of Calgary and has been a regulated member of the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS) since 2021.
Reflecting on her new role, Cynthia shared:
"I am truly honoured to step into the role of Assistant Superintendent of Inclusive Learning. After 25 years of serving the FMPSD in various roles, I remain deeply committed to fostering inclusive opportunities for students with exceptionalities, working alongside families and staff to support every student's learning and well-being. I feel privileged to contribute to the work and mission of this division, where the focus of continuous improvement is rooted in collaborative teams and student-centred practices that not only remove barriers, but also create the conditions to ensure ALL students can access meaningful and equitable learning."
