Aimee Dewacht appointed vice-principal of West Coulee Station Elementary School

Lethbridge School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Aimee Dewacht as vice-principal of West Coulee Station Elementary School, commencing the 2025/2026 school year.

Believing relationships are foundational for the role of leader, Dewacht endeavours to connect with students, parents and staff to build trust and open communication. She has built a reputation characterized by positivity and commitment to the school. She is highly visible and assists wherever she can.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of the opening of West Coulee Station Elementary School," said Dewacht. "It is an honour to join this new community, and I look forward to working alongside dedicated staff, supportive families and enthusiastic students as we build a strong foundation together. The opening of a new school is a rare and exciting moment, filled with possibilities and the promise of shaping a positive and inclusive learning environment from day one. I am eager to collaborate with everyone in creating a school culture that fosters growth, curiosity and success for all students."

At her core, Dewacht fosters the belief that hard work and meeting challenges head on are the best ways to grow and learn as educators and leaders. She also values teamwork and believes in the model of distributed leadership. As an educator, Dewacht has built her knowledge in inclusive education and models instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners. She has assumed the role of mentor whenever the opportunity arises and is committed to building the capacity of teachers new to the profession.

During her time with Lethbridge School Division, Dewacht has worked at Wilson Middle School and most recently, has served as vice-principal at G.S. Lakie Middle School. She has assumed roles as teacher leader in a variety of contexts including collaborative communities, Acting Administrator, lead mentor teacher and Department Lead Teacher. She has also contributed to teacher learning in her delivery of HPEC and SWATCA sessions and has engaged in health curriculum development.

"I am deeply thankful for my time at G.S. Lakie, where I have been able to grow and learn within such a welcoming and caring environment," said Dewacht. "The experiences and relationships I have built there have shaped me both personally and professionally, and I carry that gratitude with me as I step into this new chapter. As I embark on this journey at West Coulee Station Elementary, I am confident that together we will create a school where every student feels valued, supported and inspired to reach their full potential."

Dewacht completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Lethbridge with Great Distinction, majoring in Kinesiology and Physical Education. She completed her Master of Education with the University of Lethbridge.
