Mr. Marty Leach is an accomplished educational leader with more than 25 years of experience in education, including 13 years as a principal and extensive senior leadership experience. His career has been defined by a deep commitment to student success, inclusive learning environments, and collaborative leadership.
Most recently, he has held senior leadership roles in school jurisdictions serving northern and remote communities, including Superintendent of Schools for Stikine School District No. 87 and Supervisor of Schools/Assistant Superintendent with the Dehcho Divisional Education Council. Across these roles, he has provided strategic oversight of educational programming, fiscal management, human resources, labour relations, policy development, and system-wide school improvement initiatives.

A thoughtful, student-centered leader, Marty has championed initiatives focused on mental wellness and inclusive schooling, while supporting principals and school communities in fostering safe, caring learning environments. His leadership in curriculum implementation, staff mentorship, and strategic planning reflects his dedication to continuous improvement and meaningful educational outcomes for all learners.
Mr. Leach holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge, as well as Bachelor's degrees in Science and Education, with specializations in Biological Sciences and Physical Education. He has also completed graduate coursework in Inclusive Education at the University of Calgary.
Superintendent Kevin Bird commented that "Marty's breadth of leadership experience, commitment to lifelong learning, rural roots, and focus on building strong relationships will serve the Fox Creek School community exceptionally well."
Marty is excited to be joining the Northern Gateway Public Schools team in general, but is "especially honoured and looking forward to working with the staff, students, parents, and the community of Fox Creek to build on the wonderful work taking place at Fox Creek School."
