The curling team from Salmon Arm Secondary School (SAS) is off to the B.C. High School Curling Championships, which will take place at the Kelowna Curling Club from February 28 to March 2, 2024.
The team earned their spot by winning the Thompson Okanagan Regional Finals in Kamloops on January 20-21. The rink was comprised of skip Nolan Beck, third Kaiden Beck, second Brayan Morton and their lead-off player, who prefers to remain anonymous. Coaching the team is Andrew Cowell.
"The boys played great and are super excited to have the opportunity to represent SD83 at this year's provincials," commented parent sponsor Scott Beck. The SAS team earned second place last year and they are hoping for gold this year. Nolan was the skip for the team at the Regionals as he was playing on sprained ankles. When they play in the high school provincials it is expected that Kaiden will resume the role of skip, with Nolan playing third.
The U18 team, on which the Beck brothers curl, is headed to compete in the Canadian finals in Ottawa in early February.
