Rocky View Schools' Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Luterbach as its new Superintendent of Schools/CEO, effective Sept. 1, 2016.
Greg Luterbach to assume role of Superintendent of Schools in the fall!
"Our Board is very excited for Greg to take the helm of Rocky View Schools as our new Superintendent of Schools," said Board Chair Colleen Munro. "He has a reputation for earning the respect of those he works with through his unwavering commitment to children and his ability to foster relationships built on trust, transparency, and authenticity. We were most impressed with his wide repertoire of skills and experience in public education; we look forward to his arrival in September."
Currently serving as Superintendent of Schools for British Columbia's (BC) School District No. 20 (Kootenay-Columbia), Luterbach brings a wealth of experience in the public K-12 education sector, having risen up through the ranks from teacher to Superintendent over the past 25 years.
During his tenure with District No. 20, Luterbach has served as Superintendent of Schools since 2011. He also has served as the District's Director of Technology, Director of Human Resources and Technology, and Assistant Superintendent. In this time, Luterbach is credited for successfully working with elected trustees to support their governance role, building highly functional, collaborative teams and leading through challenges like school closures and funding shortfalls. More importantly, Luterbach is known for leading a team that is focused on student achievement and fostering growth for both students and staff.
Prior to serving the BC school board, Luterbach has worked for a number of school boards and educational institutions across the country, including a 2000-2003 stint with Rocky View Schools as its Supervisor - Technology Services. Other positions held are: Director, Information Management for the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in Toronto; Manager - Instructional Technologies and Communications for Canadian Rockies Public Schools in Alberta; and, Teacher for Saskatoon Public School Division.
"I hold Rocky View Schools in the highest regard," said Luterbach. "I am passionate about public education and the critical role we play in helping produce citizens ready to contribute and make a difference in our rapidly changing world. I look forward to meeting Rocky View's students, staff and parent communities in the fall."
Luterbach earned a Masters of Education specializing in education technology from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Education degree with a computer science major and physical education minor from the University of Saskatchewan.
"On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I extend a warm welcome to Greg," said Munro. "We are confident he will continue the tradition of ensuring students remain at the center of all our operations."
