Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) is excited to announce Jay Cottell as the new Principal of Eckville Elementary School. Cottell steps into this leadership role with a rich history within WCPS, contributing 17 years of educational service across various capacities.
"Jay's extensive experience within Wolf Creek Public Schools and his strong leadership in administration are the perfect combination for leading Eckville Elementary School into its next chapter," said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. "We are confident that his strategic vision and dedicated approach will greatly benefit the students, staff, and community of Eckville."
Most recently, Cottell has been serving as an Assistant Principal at Ponoka Elementary School since 2018. Before this, he significantly impacted the district as a WCPS Inclusion Coordinator from 2012 to 2018 and started his journey as a teacher in Bluffton. His leadership extended to roles like the Program Unit Funding Coordinator, U21C project lead and technology lead, showcasing his versatility and commitment to educational innovation.

Cottell holds a Master's Degree in Administration and Leadership from the University of Alberta (2015), equipping him with advanced skills in educational leadership and management.
