On March 1, 2023, the Alberta Government announced plans for priority school projects across the province.
As part of the Budget 2023 announcement, Edmonton Catholic Schools received the following:
- design funding for a Catholic K-9 replacement school in Rundle Heights
- planning funding for a new Catholic K-9 school in Cavanagh/Heritage Valley
- pre-planning funding for a new Catholic K-9 School in Crystallina Nera East
The three projects were priorities 1-3 on our Three-Year Capital Plan 2023-2026 which was approved in March 2022.

"We are grateful for today's commitment to three new Catholic schools in Edmonton.
This is a new process for funding schools, and we are in dialogue with the ministry to build a greater understanding of what timelines to expect regarding the different stages of planning for each school project.
Our Division is experiencing unprecedented growth and tremendous pressures in Edmonton's new neighbourhoods, and we will continue to advocate for the building of new schools to address that growth in the most expedient manner possible.
This is a positive step in helping us serve the growing number of families who are choosing Edmonton Catholic Schools, and we look forward to receiving full funding for all three projects as soon as possible."
