GREATER ST. ALBERT CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
Division celebrates Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award for the fourth consecutive year

April 7, 2020

For the fourth consecutive year, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools has received the 2020 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award (GEWA) (formally the Gallup Great Workplace Award) - an international award of excellence that recognizes organizations for their extraordinary ability to create engaged workplace cultures that drive specific business outcomes. The division is one of 38 leading global organizations assessed to earn the prestigious distinction of being named the most engaged workplaces in the world.

"We are proud to be internationally recognized for our intentional focus on - and commitment to - employee engagement and are honoured to be in the company of some of the most productive organizations in the world," says Joe Becigneul, board chair. "When our staff are supported, engaged and thriving, learning in the classroom accelerates, ultimately contributing to student success - our top priority. Clearly, this award confirms that our staff are among the best in the world, and it celebrates the exceptional day-to-day culture of our workplace."

For more than a decade, Gallup has studied workplace cultures across the globe. Each year, a panel of experts evaluates organizations and assesses them against rigorous standards, established by the most comprehensive workplace study ever conducted. Gallup's in-depth scientific research links employee engagement to 12 performance outcomes.

David Keohane, superintendent, welcomes this news - particularly in light of the current pandemic interruption.

"Engaged employees naturally find ways to excel and adapt to change and are genuinely passionate about their work," he says. "They consistently generate creativity, innovation and growth - paving the path to excellence. We are proud of our staff, who continuously convey these behaviours to our communities." Keohane believes strong employee engagement needs to be celebrated - even in the most challenging of times. "We hope this announcement resonates with our staff, parents and our students, whose resiliency grows stronger through positive news such as this."
