On October 8, 2021, The Greater St. Albert Board of Trustees and senior administration decided to mandate proof of vaccination for all employees.
"The safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance to the Board of Trustees," said Noreen Radford, Board Chair of Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools. "A lot of thought and consideration went into this decision, and we all feel it is the best possible approach at this time."
All Alberta school divisions have been encouraged to consider the implementation of a vaccine mandate for staff to prevent infection and guard against severe outcomes from COVID-19.
Starting on December 17, 2021, all GSACRD staff will be required to be fully vaccinated or present acceptable proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of starting each workday, unless they require an accommodation pursuant to a protected ground under the Alberta Human Rights Act.
