Lakeland Catholic School Division is honoured to celebrate Superintendent Sheldon Germain, who has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal; a prestigious recognition bestowed on individuals who have made valuable contributions to the country through exemplary public service.
The medal was presented Monday by Laila Goodridge, Member of Parlia- ment (MP) for Fort McMurray - Cold Lake, on behalf of the Governor Gen- eral of Canada, in recognition of Mr. Germain's tireless service, dedication, and impact for Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buf- falo. As a 30 year educator, he has served as a teacher, coach, and princi- pal in Northern Alberta and 19 years as a Municipal Councilor.

"It is my honour to recognize Sheldon Germain for the spectacular lifetime of work he has done in service to his community and for the students throughout northeastern Alberta," remarked MP Laila Goodridge." Sheldon has quietly worked hard making our schools and community better for 30 plus years. He is truly deserving of this rec- ognition."
"It is a privilege to have Superintendent Sheldon Germain leading the Lakeland Catholic School Division" says Board Chair Anna Brockhoff. "His commitment to excellence, collaborative leadership, and dedication to students and families exemplify the very best of Catholic education. This prestigious recognition affirms what we already know; Mr. Germain leads with integrity and vision to serve our schools and the broader community."
Mr. Germain expressed his deep gratitude for being awarded the King's Coronation Medal, noting the privilege it has been to be involved in the important work of public service and attributing the award to many who joined him in collective efforts along the way, both in education and government.
"It is incredibly humbling to receive this honor," said Sheldon Germain. "This medal is a testament to the power of service, faith, and steadfast commitment to making a difference in the lives of others."
This is the second major honour that Superintendent Germain has received, having also been awarded as the Keyano College distinguished Alumni in November, 2024.
