WINNIPEG SCHOOL DIVISION
WSD reduces number of employee testing clinics

October 27, 2021

Winnipeg School Division announced changes to its schedule for COVID-19 testing appointments for those employees who have chosen to do testing rather than providing proof of full vaccination. Starting tomorrow, October 27, the observed testing clinics will be reduced from five evenings per week plus Saturday at two high school gymnasiums to just three per week.

"With the completion of the first week of mandatory testing, fewer than 250 permanent and substitute staff now need to be tested," said Eric Barnaby, Chief Human Resources Officer, Winnipeg School Division, referring to the once weekly scheduled test that is observed by a nurse. The other two tests each week are done at home by the employee.

Observed testing clinics will be conducted on Wednesday evenings only at Grant Park High School senior gym. At Tec Voc High School senior gym, testing clinics will be conducted on Monday evenings and Saturdays only.

"While we anticipated that the number of employees to be tested would drop once the program rolled out, we couldn't guarantee it, so we're very pleased that we can reopen the gymnasiums for school and community permits," said Barnaby.
