At a meeting held on February 28, the Board of Trustees of the Winnipeg School Division adopted a motion to formally declare the seat for Ward Five vacant effective immediately.
The motion comes as a result of Trustee Cindy Murdoch's failure to attend regular board meetings. The Board has acted in accordance with Public Schools Act section 39.8 and Procedural By-law 1263 which states "In no event shall a trustee absent themselves from three consecutive Regular meetings without the formal approval of the Board."
The seat will be filled in the upcoming civic election being held on October 26, 2022.
