Early this summer, Alexanders Auto Ranch in Flin Flon, Manitoba donated seven modern engines to the University College of The North (UCN) Automotive Technician Program.
The seven donated GM 2.2L Ecotec Engines are valued at over $1800 and will help create a hands-on learning environment for students.
"I feel the donation will benefit students as we now have enough modern engines to accommodate one for every student," said Riley Wlasichuk, UCN Automotive Technician Instructor. "With this donation, students get to experience every aspect of hands-on engine training. In the past, either the engines available were not modern or multiple students needed to share an engine and may not have gotten the full experience."
The donation came when UCN Automotive Technician Instructor, Riley Wlasichuk, identified the need for his VTR 1091 Engines Theory and Practical Course. He reached out to Alexanders Auto Ranch Part Owner, Rod Alexander.
"I am proud of it," said Rod Alexander, Part Owner of Alexanders Auto Ranch in Flin Flon. "It's going to a good cause to help people get a trade. If you don't have a trade, it's hard to get a job. It's important to learn and get a good start in life."
This is the second donation this year to the program. In early June, Great North GM in The Pas donated two vehicles for hands-on training.
