St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools' (STAR Catholic) Board of Trustees has selected Wetaskiwin Trustee Henry Effon as its Board Chair and Leduc Trustee Jolyne De Marco as Vice Chair.
The selection was made at the Board's organizational meeting on October 29, 2025, following the recent Board of Trustees election.
"I am humbled and grateful for the confidence my fellow trustees have placed in me," said Effon. "As we begin this new term, our Board remains committed to ensuring that every student in STAR Catholic experiences faith-filled learning that nurtures their gifts and supports their success. We look forward to building upon the strong foundation of Catholic education in each of our communities."
Trustee Effon, who represents the Wetaskiwin area and formed areas in Westerose, has served on the Board since 2013 and is beginning his fourth term as trustee. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including past Board Chair, Vice Chair and on several committees dedicated to policy, faith formation, and advocacy.

A longtime Leduc resident, she is passionate about faith, community, and Catholic education. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our STAR Catholic communities in this new capacity," said De Marco. "Together with my fellow trustees, I look forward to fostering collaboration, faith, and hope as we support our students, families, and staff."
The Board also appointed members to its standing committees, including policy, labour relations, and long-range planning.
