Cristina Ambrosio Nominated for Excellence in Catholic Education Award

STAR Catholic School Division is pleased to announce its nomination of teacher Cristina Ambrosio for the 2021 Excellence in Catholic Education Award.

A grade 3 teacher at Sacred Heart School in Wetaskiwin, Ms. Ambrosio embraces the uniqueness of each child as a gift from God. This is clear to all who witness her engaging in meaningful conversation with her students as she takes the time to be present in their day and listen to their needs.

As an active member of Sacred Heart Church, Ms. Ambrosio has shared her gifts with the parish community in numerous ways over the years, including by singing in choir, acting as greeter or lector, and teaching Children's Liturgy. She is also a member of her school's Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE) team, and promotes faith in the school community as a member of the School Leadership Team.

"Cristi is a true advocate for Catholic education, and her students have quickly learned the importance of faith in her life as she shares with them daily her Catholic values and beliefs," says the Sacred Heart School administration team.

"She is a beautiful example of being called to do the work of Christ and we are honoured to celebrate her love for and dedication to Catholic education."

Presented annually by the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta (CCSSA), the Excellence in Catholic Education Award recognizes passionate Catholic teachers in Alberta who have gone above and beyond to guide youth as they grow into exemplary Catholic citizens.
