I am pleased to present the Superintendent's 2016-17 Annual Report: Deepening our Knowledge. This report highlights many of the significant initiatives and priorities that have guided our collective efforts as a system over the past year, guided by the Annual Business Plan.
The 2016-17 school year was a challenging one in the history of public education in our province. Reflecting on the past year, many will be reminded of disruptions to the typical school year routines. I take comfort, however, in knowing that even during unusual and challenging times, our staff and the system as a whole, remained engaged, committed, and worked hard to maintain close attention to the needs of our students. This report provides meaningful examples of the quality learning that continued to transpire each and every day.
Beyond the achievement results reported in this document, you will find detailed accounts of the priorities we have maintained as a focus through the implementation of the Annual Business Plan. Strategic Planning, as a process of community engagement, has been a source of particular pride for staff and the governing board as we look to include and honour the diverse voices of CCRSB through a comprehensive series of consultations. This work is ongoing and will continue to inform and influence our vision for the future of our students.
The old adage that it takes a community to raise a child continues to ring true. Our dedicated staff, parents and guardians, volunteers, partners and communities continue to prove that our students and their success is truly at the centre of everything we do. I am very proud of the work being done to support each and every student in the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. I thank you for demonstrating your investment in their future by reviewing the evidence we have compiled in this report.
Sincerely,
Gary Adams
Superintendent of Schools and CEO
