GOOD SPIRIT SCHOOL DIVISION
GSSD Receives Additional Funding

February 23, 2018

The Good Spirit School Division is pleased to be receiving $262,700 of additional funding, less $53,424 due to mid-year enrolment decreases, which resulted in a net increase of $209,276 for this year. The funding will provide Good Spirit with the opportunity to provide additional 5.42 FTE professional staff in schools with multi-grade classroom configurations, Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools, small high schools and PTR outliers. Also, additional math and literacy resources will be purchased.

Multi-grade Elementary schools that will receive a combined total of 1.97 FTE professional staff include Calder School, Grayson School, Macdonald School in Stockholm, Miller School in Melville and Saltcoats School. Churchbridge School, Invermay School, Norquay School and Sturgis Composite School are the Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools receiving a total of 1.85 FTE. Canora Composite School and Esterhazy High School will receive a combined total of 1.05 FTE. Columbia School in Yorkton, due to diversity factors, will receive an additional 0.55 FTE for the remainder of this school year.

Earlier this month, Premier Scott Moe announced that immediate mid-school year funding will be provided to school divisions to assist in dealing with front line pressures. The funding will be distributed through the Ministry of Education by way of the current education funding formula using the components that directly provide supports for the classroom.
