Students from St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School's (STCSS) Sports Sector, Specialist High-Skills Major (SHSM) program, engaged in an Introduction to Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) course as part of their "Advanced Training in a Technique" course elective.
St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School students enrolled in the SHSM - Sports program had the opportunity to learn about SCUBA as part of their SHSM experiential learning.
This component of the SHSM program enables students to acquire the knowledge and skills related to safe work habits and sector-specific training. In addition, students with sector-recognized certifications and training have an advantage when entering the workforce.
The program was led by certified dive instructors from Dive Force Scuba, at the Rec Plex, CFB Trenton, on Tuesday morning.
"The students were super focused and had a great time learning this new skill", said Suzanne McDonald, Health & Physical Education Dept Head and Athletic Director for STCSS.
