The Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mark Haarmann has been appointed Director of Education/CEO effective August 1, 2024.
Mark Haarmann has more than 30 years of service in the education sector in Ontario, having served as a teacher, vice principal, principal, staffing officer (human resources), superintendent, and Associate Director with Peel District School Board. He is currently a lecturer with the Faculty of Education at Western University.
Mark has demonstrated leadership experience in all aspects of school division operations. As Superintendent of Education for a family of schools, Central Superintendent, and Associate Director for almost 15 years, he was responsible for leading key elements of the Peel School District's Plan for Student Success, co-leading a number of Ministry of Education initiatives, and conceptualizing and leading district-wide initiatives and strategies in support of literacy, Indigenous education, mental health and wellness, equity and inclusion, restorative practices, alternatives to suspension, and parent and community engagement.
Mark holds a Master of Education (Leadership) from York University, a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. He is currently completing his PhD at Western University.
Mark's commitment to student achievement, equity-centred approach, and results orientation position him well to lead Regina Public Schools over the coming years. He is committed to building strong relationships with students, staff and employee groups, parents, community members, partner organizations, and governments and is looking forward to getting to know Regina Public Schools.

My goal is to offer unwavering support to all board stakeholders as we collectively impact the lives of our learners. I am here to contribute to the everyday excellence in our schools, classrooms, and board sites. My commitment is to collaborate with Regina's dedicated Trustees, skilled educators and employees, caring families and community supports to continue to provide equitable, inclusive, and safe environments for learning and working. I very much look forward to being a part of the future of this outstanding Division."
