Regina Public Schools will soon be implementing a Vaccination Administrative Procedure that will require identification of vaccination or recent negative COVID-19 testing status.
Regina Public Schools will require all employees, contractors, volunteers, parents and other visitors to our schools and facilities to demonstrate proof of full vaccination or recent proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Details of the requirement and when it will be implemented will soon be shared. This requirement will also apply to child care providers, contracted transportation staff, community user groups and other partners who use our facilities.
Proof of vaccination is not required for students' in-class learning. If a student is determined to be a close contact, proof of student vaccination or virus-free status will be required for further participation in extra-curricular activities.
Regina Public Schools takes the safety of our students and staff seriously. At the same time, we respect your privacy and the importance of personal choices. No one entering our schools and facilities will be forced to be vaccinated. For those who do not wish to disclose their vaccine status, the school division will require proof of current COVID-free status through a current, recognized test report. Verification of both will be done in a private, sensitive and respectful manner.
The development of a Vaccination Administration Procedure is Regina Public Schools' direct response to City and Province-wide vaccine or test requirements being implemented on October 1, 2021. At that time, proof of vaccination or negative test requirements will be implemented for all provincial government and crown corporation employees. A similar requirement is being or has been already implemented at many City of Regina facilities, as well as Regina-area venues and businesses.
As responsible employers and citizens of Regina and the province of Saskatchewan, we are doing our part to keep employees, students, partners, guests and their families safe as they work, learn and play in our schools and facilities.
We will share the Regina Public Schools Vaccination Administrative Procedure and related details, including the implementation date, in the coming weeks.
